NHAI awards Rs.2,640-cr Gujarat projects

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has picked builders for four-laning the Bhavnagar-Somnath national highway stretch in Gujarat at a cost of Rs.2,640 crore.

The road connects religious and tourist places such as the Island of Diu, Somnath Temple, Gir National Park, Porbandar and Dwarka, NHAI said in a statement on Monday.

The project on the NH-8E section of NH-51, developed under the new hybrid annuity model over the next 30 months, has been won by companies that include Sadbhav Infrastructure, MEP Infrastructure and Sanjose India Infrastructure (in JV), and Agroh Infrastructure and Developers. “Implementation of the project would result in a quantum jump in the development of tourism, economic and coastal connectivity of this region,” NHAI said.
