Taj Mahal Taj Mahal : The Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum located in Agra, India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is widely recognized as the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage. Taj Mahal is the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian, Turkish and Indian architectural styles.In 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Agra Fort Agra Fort : Agra Fort, is a monument, is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled city. After Panipat, Mughals captured the fort and a vast treasure - which included a diamond that was later named as the Koh-i-Noor diamond - was seized. Babur stayed in the fort in the palace of Ibrahim. He built a baoli (step well) in it. Humayun was crowned here in 1530. Humayun was defeated in Bilgram in 1540.
Tomb of I'timad-ud-Daulah Tomb of I'timad-ud-Daulah : TItmad-ud-Daula's Tomb is a Mughal mausoleum in the city of Agra in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Often described as 'jewel box', sometimes called the 'Baby Taj', the tomb of I'timad-ud-Daulah is often regarded as a draft of the Taj Mahal. Along with the main building, the structure consists of numerous outbuildings and gardens. The tomb, built between 1622 and 1628 represents a transition between the first phase of monumental Mughal architecture - primarily built from red sandstone with marble decorations, as in Humayun's Tomb in Delhi and Akbar's tomb in Sikandra - to its second phase.
Tomb of Akbar the Great Tomb of Akbar the Great : The Tomb of Akbar the Great is an important Mughal architectural masterpiece, built 1605-1613, set in 48 Ha (119 acres) of grounds in Sikandra, a suburb of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.The third Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great (1555–1605), himself commenced its construction in around 1600, according to Tartary tradition to commence the construction of one's tomb during one's lifetime. Akbar himself planned his own tomb and selected a suitable site for it, after his death, Akbar's son Jahangir completed the construction in 1605-1613. Akbar was one of the greatest emperors of his time.
Chini Ka Rauza Chini Ka Rauza : Chini ka Rauza is a funerary monument in Agra, India, containing the tomb of Allama Afzal Khan Mullah, a scholar and poet who was the Prime Minister of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The tomb was built in 1635. Chini ka Rauza is situated just 1 kilometer north of Itmad-Ud-Daulah Tomb, on the eastern bank of Yamuna river in Agra.Chini Ka Rauza was built in the reign of Shah Jahan. Allama Afzal Khan Mullah of Shiraz, was a scholar and poet who went on to become the Prime Minister of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.
Jahangiri Mahal Jahangiri Mahal :Jahangiri Mahal , may be the most noteworthy building inside the Agra Fort of India. The Mahal was the principal zenana (palace for women belonging to the royal household), and was used mainly by the Rajput wives of Akbar.
Buland-Darwaza Buland Darwaza : Buland Darwaza , meaning 'high' or 'great' gate in Persian, is the largest of gateways in the world[citation needed]. It is located in Fatehpur Sikri which is located 43 km away from Agra, India. It is also known as the "Gate of Magnificence." Buland Darwaza or the loft gateway was built by the great Mughal emperor, Akbar in 1601 A.D. at Fatehpur Sikri. Akbar built the Buland Darwaza to commemorate his victory over Gujarat.
St George's Church St George's Church : The St George's Church is located in the cantonment area in Agra which is spaciously laid out on the usual rid-pattern. Built in 1826, the church is designed by Colonel J T Boileau. It is a beautiful building of yellow ochre stucco with white dressings. The interior of the church is divided into a central nave and side aisles by six Ionic columns carrying a slightly vaulted roof. The chancel and the altar are enriched with the marble inlay work.
