Aura Minerals is a Canadian-based company focused on the acquisition, exploration, development and operation of gold and base metal projects in the Americas. Aura Minerals’ portfolio includes three producing mines, the San Andres Gold Mine located in La Union, Honduras and the Sao Francisco and Sao Vicente gold mines, located in north western Brazil. In total, the Company’s portfolio contains over 1.5 million ounces of proven and probable gold reserves. Gold production from these three mines is expected to average approximately 220,000 ounces annually. Aura Minerals’ portfolio also includes advanced-stage development and pre-production projects. The wholly owned Aranzazu Project, located in Zacatecas State, Mexico, is the most advanced of these projects and hosts a large copper resource with significant concentrations of gold and silver. Aura Minerals plans to restart the Aranzazu Project in 2010, and is focused on a staged expansion to deliver production growth. A significant exploration program will also be conducted to increase the confidence level of the current resource classification and to expand the large resource base. The feasibility-stage Serrote Deposit at the Arapiraca Project, located in Alagoas State, Brazil, is also in development. The Arapiraca Project hosts a large resource in the main Serrote Deposit, which was the subject of a Preliminary Economic Assessment in 2009. The Preliminary Economic Assessment demonstrated that the Serrote Deposit would provide strong economic returns in an area of excellent infrastructure in Brazil, one of the world's most favourable mining jurisdictions. Aura Minerals completed all work required for the environmental permit in 2009, and Aura Minerals has now been granted an Installation License for the Serrote Deposit; this is the last major permit required, which allows Aura Minerals to proceed to the construction stage. In 2010, exploration targets near the Serrote Deposit will also be explored to add to the resources and economics at the Arapiraca Project. Moving forward, Aura Minerals will continue to engage in strategic activities that demonstrate the Company’s commitment to responsible and sustainable growth. The Company’s focused growth strategy is underpinned by a production platform of approximately 220,000 ounces of gold from its three gold mines, strengthened by copper, gold and silver production from the Aranzazu Project beginning in mid-2010. Aura Minerals’ experienced management team, strong financial position and attractive portfolio of diversified projects will continue to strengthen the Company’s position as a mid-tier gold producer.
Avalon Rare Metals Inc. (TSX:AVL)(OTCQX:AVARF) is a mineral exploration and development company focused on the rare metal deposits in Canada. Its flagship project, the 100%-owned Nechalacho Deposit, Thor Lake, Northwest Territories, is emerging as one of the largest undeveloped rare earth elements resources in the world. Its exceptional enrichment in the more valuable ‘heavy' rare earth elements, key to enabling advances in green energy technology and other growing high-tech applications, is one of the few potential sources of these critical elements outside of China, currently the source of over 95% of the world supply. Avalon is well funded, has no debt and its work programs are progressing steadily. Social responsibility and environmental stewardship are corporate cornerstones. Avalon presently owns five rare metals and minerals projects in Canada, four of which are at advanced stages of development. These are: Nechalacho, Thor Lake, Northwest Territories, a rare earth elements ("REE") project in the pre-feasibility stage, Separation Rapids (lithium) in Ontario, Warren Township in Ontario (calcium feldspar project, currently inactive pending resolution of permitting issue), and East Kemptville, Nova Scotia, a tin-indium-gallium-germanium project where large inferred resources have been identified requiring further drilling to bring the project to the pre-feasibility stage.

Baffinland is a Canadian company that was formed pursuant to Articles of Incorporation under the Business Corporation Act (Ontario) on March 10, 1986. The Company owns three mining leases covering approximately 1,600 hectares in the Mary River area, Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada. The Company is a mineral exploration and development company with a sole focus on the advancement of its Mary River Property, which consists of four high-grade hematite/magnetite deposits (the “Project”). The Project is in its early stages after having been originally discovered and studied in the 1960’s. Notwithstanding current global recessionary conditions, which have significantly impacted the European and North American commodity markets, iron ore market trends are still seen as favourable. Although current iron ore prices have decreased by approximately 30% since the downturn began in late 2008 it is the opinion of the Company’s management that prices are likely to rebound somewhat in the next year. In addition, iron ore and steel industry consolidation continues. Since 2004, Baffinland has been engaged in a wide spectrum of activities supporting the development of the Mary River iron ore deposits. These activities have included the delineation of mineral resources and estimation of mineral reserves, extensive metallurgical testing of the iron ore, field engineering data collection, environmental and socio-economic baseline studies, and evaluation of shipping lanes. A bulk sample was shipped to two key customers in Europe in 2008. The DFS, coordinated by Aker Solutions was completed in 2008, followed by initiation of the regulatory review process and basic engineering design. As a result of the current world economic outlook and the Company’s current resources, basic engineering and other technical support services were suspended in December 2008 and a review of the proposed Project timeline was initiated. Re-initiation of engineering and related technical support services will be contingent on the Company raising funds to complete such activities. As a result of a decision from the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada in reference to the regulatory review process, in 2009 the Company is pursuing the terms of reference guiding the submission of an Environmental Impact Statement, the submission of which will be contingent on further financing. In the meantime, a modest exploration program is underway to continue development on Deposit No. 1.

The Company has so far identified 6.72 million ounces of Measured and Indicated Resources, plus Inferred Resources of 4.46 million ounces. In addition to its current properties, which have mining licenses and cover 2,613 square kilometers, Banro in 2007 was awarded 14 exploration permits covering 2,638 square kilometres and located on highly prospective ground between its Twangiza and Lugushwa projects. The Goldstrike Complex is located on the Carlin Trend, the most prolific gold mining district in the Western Hemisphere, about 60 kilometres northwest of Elko, Nevada, USA. The Goldstrike operations consist of the Betze-Post open pit mine and the Meikle and Rodeo underground mines which are located just north of the Betze-Post pit, along the same mineralized trend. The Betze-Post pit is a truck-and-shovel operation using large electric shovels. Meikle is a high-grade ore body which is mined by transverse longhole stoping, underhand drift and fill mining methods. Rodeo is a further extension of the mineralization found at Goldstrike and is a trackless operation, using two different underground mining methods: long-hole open stoping and drift-and-fill.The Goldstrike Property consists of two processing facilities: (1) an autoclave circuit, which is used to treat the property’s non-carbonaceous sulfide (refractory) ore; and (2) the roaster, used for treating carbonaceous ore (not suitable for autoclaving). These facilities treat ores from both the surface and underground operations. In 2009, the Goldstrike Property produced 1.36 million ounces of gold at total cash costs of $464 per ounce1.
