The US-certified air carrier announced in 2008 that it would eliminate routes to Africa, citing rising fuel costs as the impetus behind its decision. Founded in 1989, North American is primarily a charter airline, operating a fleet of 10 passenger aircraft. A subsidiary of Global Aviation Holdings, North American operates out of headquarters at JFK International Airport in New York City.
