Malaysian government-owned holding company Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad (PMB) is working to help Malaysian Airlines regain financial altitude. PMB was formed in 2002 as part of the restructuring of Malaysian Airline System (MAS) and its Malaysian Airlines unit. The restructuring gave PMB ownership of the carrier's fleet, which it leases back to MAS. PMB assumed MAS's long-term debt and took responsibility for the airline's money-losing domestic operations, but in 2006 the government reassigned most domestic routes to AirAsia and MAS reassumed its remaining domestic business. First taking off in 1941, the carrier has grown into a fleet of about 40 aircraft (including five Boeing 747-400s) flying to more than 20 domestic points and about 30 foreign destinations. PAL owns 30 Airbus aircraft and four Bombardier airplanes. The airline has also reconfigured its in-flight service to include first, business, and economy classes. PAL additionally offers flights to India and China, both among the world's fastest-growing travel markets. The carrier offers almost 30 weekly flights to US destinations. In 2008 the company launched its low fare carrier unit, PAL Express, which serves mostly domestic island destinations.

Piedmont Airlines, Inc. operates as an US Airways Express carrier and is a wholly owned subsidiary of US Airways (LCC). US Airways is the 6th largest airline in the United States. Our airline was founded by Mr. Richard Henson in 1931 as Henson Flying Service, a fixed-base operator. In 1962 scheduled airline service commenced as Hagerstown Commuter. Today, Piedmont operates nearly 440 daily departures to 55 cities throughout the eastern United States and Canada. We currently operate 51 deHavilland DHC-8 turbo prop aircraft.

Overall, the US Airways Express carriers, including fellow subsidiary Piedmont Airlines and several independent lines, operate about 330 aircraft, comprising turboprops as well as CRGs.

Government-owned airline Garuda Indonesia flies passengers and cargo to more than 40 destinations, split evenly between domestic and international markets (primarily in the Asia/Pacific region). The carrier operates a fleet of about 50 aircraft, consisting mainly of Boeing models. Its low-fare CitiLink affiliate serves about half a dozen Indonesian locations. Garuda extends its international network via code-sharing relationships with several carriers. (Code-sharing allows airlines to sell tickets on one another's flights and thus offer passengers service to additional destinations.) Subsidiaries provide aircraft maintenance and ground-handling services.
