Tata Group’s century

As many as 128 companies within the Standard & Poor’s 500 universe command a market value that is higher than the combined market-cap of all listed Tata Group entities.

This list of global companies is dominated by seven technology giants including Apple, Google, Microsoft, IBM, Facebook, Oracle and Intel.

Banking and financial services providers, Warren Buffett-led Berkshire Hathaway, Wells Fargo, JP Morgan & Chase, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Citigroup, also feature prominently on the list.

Pharma and healthcare companies are also well represented by Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Merck.

To make it to the top 25, the Tata Group needs to overtake more than 100 companies, a tall ask. Cyrus Mistry, chairman Tata Sons, said on Tuesday he hoped to get there by 2025.
