Nashik: Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd is exploring the feasibility of entering emerging markets such as Indonesia and Russia in partnership with Ford Motor Co. “We are exploring various aspects with Ford; manufacturing, sourcing, engineering or even on the retail front. But things are at a very initial stage (in these markets) to conclude what aspect we will be partnering on,” said Mahindra managing director Pawan Goenka.

MUMBAI: Ford Motor’s India is close to posting a net profit, driven by strong gains in domestic sales and booming exports that helped the automaker’s local unit post a 20% expansion in turnover for the third consecutive year.

In fiscal 2018, Ford India’s domestic operations crossed a billion dollars in turnover for the first time. Exports accounted 2.4 times local sales, taking the total turnover to $3.4 billion.

American carmaker Ford, which tasted success in India with its EcoSport sports utility vehicle (SUV), plans to have an SUV dominated future line up for the local market. EcoSport accounts for almost 40 per cent of the cumulative one million units sold by the car maker in India till date. More than half of its future launches could be SUVs.

Ford Motor Co. is killing its slow-selling Fusion sedan while keeping the name to affix to a sport wagon it is developing to take on Subaru’s popular Outback, according to people familiar with the automaker’s plans.

The Fusion name probably will live on when the sedan exits early next decade, according to a spokesman.

Ford India on Friday said that it is recalling 5,397 units of its popular SUV Ford EcoSport for faulty front lower control arm.

In a statement, Ford India said that it is voluntarily inspecting 4,379 EcoSport vehicles, made at the company’s Chennai plant between May 2017 and June 2017, for weld integrity of the front lower control arm.

Calcutta: Ford India's exports are almost double its domestic sales.

The US-based company closed calendar year 2017 with exports of 1,75,196 units compared with 1,51,638 units in 2016.

The company's domestic sales is almost half of its exports at 87,588 units for 2017 compared with 86,460 units a year ago.
