Mumbai: Mercedes Benz India Pvt Ltd launched the GLE 450 AMG coupe for the Indian market on Tuesday.

Priced at Rs.86.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) the model is the first so-called performance SUV coupe launched by the company in India.

Mercedes-Benz has recovered from an initial hit to sales of its diesel vehicles due to the Volkswagen emissions-cheating scandal, Daimler Chairman Dieter Zetsche has said.

"For some time the entire industry was affected" by the VW scandal, Zetsche, who is also head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, said on the sidelines of the Detroit auto show.

German luxury carmaker Mercedes- Benz today said it posted record sales of 13,502 units in India last year as compared with 10,201 units in 2014, a significant jump of 32%, and is planning to add 12 'fascinating' new products to its portfolio in 2016.

By registering sales of 13,502 units in the January- December 2015 period, the company also achieved its highest sales volume in a single calendar year in India ever since its inception, Mercedes-Benz India said in a statement.

Aggrieved carmakers have joined hands and moved the Supreme Court against Delhi government's order the ban on diesel vehicles registration.

On Monday, Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota and Mercedes-Benz moved the Supreme Court seeking a modification in the order calling for a ban on the registration of diesel cars/ SUVs above 2,000 cc engine in the NCR region.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV), a 100 per cent Indian subsidiary Daimler AG, today announced the start of sales of the Mercedes-Benz coach - the Super High Deck SHD 2436. First set of buses was handed over to a customer in Chennai.

The luxury coach is manufactured out of its plant in Oragadam. The seating capacity of upto 61 pushback seats and 14 cubic meters, the bus was built with an aluminique body, this coach is the lightest in its class offering ultra -fuel efficiency, company said in a release.

Manufacturers which meet the emission norms but face the axe due to the order are Porsche, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), Maserati, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes and Audi.

Mercedes-Benz, India's largest luxury car maker, today drove in the new A-Class priced at Rs 24.95 lakh for the petrol variant (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

Launched in 2013 the A-Class is the cheapest car in the German company's line up. The diesel version of the car is priced at Rs 25.95 lakh.

Mumbai: Mercedes Benz will invest Rs1,000 crore on production of luxury cars in Maharashtra. The announcement was made in a meeting between state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, MD & CEO of Mercedes Benz India Eberhard Kern, and future MD and CEO of the company, Roland Folger, on Monday evening, an official said on Tuesday.

German Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz on Wednesday launched in India SUV GLE that will be produced locally with starting price of Rs 58.90 lakh (ex showroom Delhi) to enhance its position in the market in New Delhi.

The GLE will be available in two variants -- 250d with a 2,143 cc diesel engine priced at Rs 58.90 lakh, and 350d which is powered by 2,987cc diesel engine priced at Rs 69.90 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

German luxury car maker Mercedes- Benz today reported 34% increase in sales in India during the January-September period at 10,079 units.

"By selling 10,079 units, Mercedes-Benz sold almost the entire volume of 2014 in the first nine months of 2015," Mercedes-Benz India said in a statement.
