Mercedes-Benz launches A-Class at Rs 25 lakh

Mercedes-Benz, India's largest luxury car maker, today drove in the new A-Class priced at Rs 24.95 lakh for the petrol variant (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
Launched in 2013 the A-Class is the cheapest car in the German company's line up. The diesel version of the car is priced at Rs 25.95 lakh.
This is the 15th and the last model launch by Mercedes-Benz committed for the year.
Roland Folger, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, "The A-Class has been instrumental in making Mercedes-Benz brand more youthful. We are confident that the new A-Class will continue to remain on top of customers'preference".
The A-Class belongs to the new generation of compact cars from Mercedes. The portfolio also has the B-Class, GLA-Class and CLA-Class.
The new A-Class is equipped with a leather wrapped multifunction steering wheel having 12 buttons and a shift lever in leather.
The car has a 1.6 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine that produces peak power of 122hp. The 2.2 litre, 4 cylinder diesel produces 136hp of peak power, generating a top speed of 210km/hr.

Tech giant Microsoft Corporation recently acquired 48 acres of land in Hyderabad in a transaction estimated to be worth around Rs 267 crore.
The acquisition of the property was facilitated through Sai Balaji Developers, a land aggregator situated in Ranga Reddy district, as indicated in the documentation shared by data analytics company Propstack, according to a report in The Economic Times (ET).

Shares of Shakti Pumps (SPIL) locked in the upper circuit for the fifth straight day, up 5 per cent at Rs 2,585.85 per share on the BSE in Monday's intraday deals. This came after the company reported a robust March quarter (Q4FY24) earnings and strong order book. In comparison, the S&P BSE Midcap and Smallcap index were down by 1 per cent.
The stock of the company is trading at its record high level and has rallied 28 per cent in past one week. Moreover, in the past 33 trading days, the stock has more than doubled or zoomed 104 per cent from Rs 1,121 on March 14, 2024.

China will never treat India as an equal partner and by amassing troops on the border, Beijing is forcing New Delhi to spend more money on defence than capital investment, Mukesh Aghi, the head of a top US-based India-centric business and strategic group has said.
The militaries of India and China have been locked in a standoff since May 2020 and a full resolution of the border row has not yet been achieved though the two sides have had several rounds of talks at the diplomatic and military levels.
