BHEL bags 80 mw photovoltaic power plants

NEW DELHI: State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has bagged orders for setting up 80 mw of solar photovoltaic power plants on engineering, procurement and construction basis.

The orders, valued at Rs 437 crore, have been placed by Neyveli Lignite Corporation LTd (NLC) and Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL).

The solar photovoltaic plants are to be set up at Neyveli, Tamilnadu (65 mw), for NLC, and at the premises of Ordnance Factory Medak, Telangana (15 mw), for BEL.

With these orders, BHEL's solar portfolio now stands at 300 mw.

BHEL had earlier bagged EPC orders from NTPC under domestic competitive bidding for a 50 mw solar photovoltaic power plant at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and for a 50 mw power plant at Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh.
