The US Securities and Exchange Commission has arranged to serve Gautam Adani ‍with a civil fraud ​lawsuit, allowing the regulator's case against India's second-richest person to proceed.

In a Friday filing in the Brooklyn, New York federal court, the SEC and US-based lawyers for Adani and his nephew Sagar Adani said the lawyers agreed to accept the SEC's legal ​papers, eliminating the need for US District Judge Nicholas Garaufis to rule on how the defendants should be served.

The India–European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is expected to bring incremental gains for Indian automobile players, analysts said on Wednesday, as they saw fears of a surge in European imports "overblown".

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and and Nationalist Congress Party Chief Ajit Pawar, 66, died after his aircraft crashed at 8:45 am on Wednesday while attempting to land at the Baramati airport, according to PTI. Three others on board are also confirmed dead, according to the report.

The European Union will open its first Legal Gateway Office in India to provide a single access point for Indian workers, students and researchers seeking authorised routes to EU member states, as India and the EU advance negotiations on a long-pending free trade agreement. The move was announced by President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday at the conclusion of the India-EU FTA talks in New Delhi.

The nationwide bank strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on January 27, 2026, witnessed near-total participation, with around 8 lakh bank employees and officers staying away from work across the country, according to a press statement by the bank unions.
