President Donald Trump on Sunday announced emergency authorisation to treat COVID-19 patients with convalescent plasma a move he called a breakthrough, one of his top health officials called promising and other health experts said needs more study before it's celebrated.

The announcement came after White House officials complained there were politically motivated delays by the Food and Drug Administration in approving a vaccine and therapeutics for the disease that has upended Trump's reelection chances.

A team of Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad carried out raids at several areas in Balrampur on Sunday following the arrest of alleged ISIS operative Abu Yusuf. Earlier today, a huge amount of explosives, including explosive jacket, were recovered from Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh, sources said.

Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district will soon come up with the world's highest railway bridge which will be 35 metres taller than Eiffel Tower. The bridge, which is being built over the Chenab river is likely to be completed by August 2022.

The bridge will connect Kashmir valley with Katra in Jammu and the rest of the country. It will also reduce the journey time by 5-6 hours from Katra to Srinagar.

India's COVID-19 tally zoomed past 29 lakh, a day after it crossed 28 lakh, with asingle-day spike of68,898 infections, while the recoveries have increased to 21,58,946 on Friday taking the recovery rate to over 74 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

The total cases of coronavirus infections mounted to 29,05,823, while the death toll climbed to54,849 with 983 new fatalities being reported in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.
