MUMBAI: Engineering major Larsen & Toubro has signed a technology transfer agreement with South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries to build carriers for liquefied natural gas (LNG) at its shipyard at Kattupalli, near Chennai.

While L&T aims to bag order from staterun GAIL which is likely to re-launch tender for nine LNG carriers with this tie-up, the company hopes to get more orders in India and abroad. GAIL had issued a Rs 42,370-tender to charter nine LNG carriers in August last year which was later scrapped due to dismal response.

New Delhi, May 1: Car makers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Honda posted a robust growth in sales in April on the back of launches.

However, SUV major Mahindra & Mahindra could manage a meagre 1 per cent increase, while the sales of General Motors India witnessed a decline.

Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) today reported 2.6% increase in total sales at 51,505 units in April.

The company had sold 50,222 units in the same month last year, HMIL said in a statement.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd today launched a new version of its premium sedan Elantra priced between Rs 14.13 lakh and Rs 17.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The sedan will be available in both diesel and petrol options. While the petrol version is priced in a range of Rs 14.13 lakh and Rs 16.45 lakh, the diesel option is priced between Rs 14.58 lakh and Rs 17.94 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi), the company said in a statement.

Hyundai Motor India on Wednesday reported 3.8 per cent decline in total sales at 49,740 units in March. The company had sold 51,708 units in the same month last year, HMIL said in a statement.

In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 39,525 units last month compared with 35,003 units in March 2014, up 12.9 per cent. However, the company’s exports declined by 38.9 per cent to 10,215 units as against 16,705 units in the same period last year.

Korean carmaker Hyundai is all set to join the bandwagon of crossovers with the launch of i20 Active. The car has been in news for quite sometime and will be launching on March 17th, 2015.

Hyundai is the second largest automaker in India and has a good hold in the market, so to keep pace with the competition, it decided to launch the crossover version of its already successful hatchback – Hyundai i20 Active will compete with Toyota Etios Cross, Volkswagen Cross Polo and Fiat Avventura.

The Madras High Court today asked the Korean automajor Hyundai to take part in the Competition Commission of India's ongoing investigation against all the major car makers in country for alleged violation of trade norms in after-services market and spare parts.

Division bench of Justice Satish K Agnihotri and Justice M Venugopal ruling comes in response to a petition filed by Hyundai against a single judge order, which was passed last month.

Mumbai: Car maker Hyundai Motor India Ltd on Monday reported a 9.7% increase in its February domestic sales. The local arm of the South Korean car maker said it sold 37,305 units in the month against 34,005 units a year ago.

Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice-president of sales and marketing, credited the growth to additional and repeat buyers. He said such buyers were a bigger contributor to sales as compared with first-time buyers. He said the volumes were largely led by the i20, which found over 10,000 buyers during the month.

With a spate of new models slated to rollout, South Korean car maker Hyundai aims to touch annual volumes of half a million units within two years, a top executive at its India unit said on Wednesday.

The company, which started local sales in 1998, is currently the second largest in the segment here, after Maruti Suzuki, and also the largest car exporter. It is yet to decide on setting up a second domestic production facility after the first near Chennai, despite having negotiated with several states like Rajasthan and Gujarat for potential investments.
