Ashok Leyland set to ply 50 electric buses for Ahmedabad BRTS by May

In a first in the country, Hinduja Group-owned Ashok Leyland is all set to ply 50 electric buses by May for Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL), which manages Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in the Gujarat’s biggest city.

As per the contract, Ashok Leyland would run entire fleet of electric buses for the first seven years with a provision of two years extension, said Karthick Athmanathan, head – EV & eMobility Solutions.

Ashok Leyland bags orders for 2,580 buses from STUs

Ashok Leyland on Wednesday confirmed that it has bagged orders from IRT (Institute of Road Transport) Chennai, UPSRTC (Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation) and CTU (Chandigarh Transport Undertaking) for manufacturing a total of 2,580 buses. These orders are among the largest from state transport undertakings (STU’s) for a single OEM. All these buses are likely to be dlivered before March 2019.

Ashok Leyland hits 18-month low on weak December sales

Shares of Ashok Leyland slipped to their 18-month low of Rs 95.95 apiece, dipping 2 per cent on the BSE, and extending their 4 per cent fall in the past two days after recording weak December sales numbers. The stock of commercial vehicles (CV) manufacturer was trading at its lowest level since July 3, 2017.

Ashok Leyland in talks with global OEM to offer mobility solutions

Hinduja flagship Ashok Leyland said that it is in advanced talks with a select few defence players (OEMs) in the US and Europe to offer its mobility solutions. The sompany, the largest mobility/logistic solutions provider for the Indian Army for more than three decades, sees huge opportunity not only in India but also in the overseas markets, given the wide offerings as well cost advantage it holds among peers.

Ashok Leyland, Israel's Elbit Systems sign MoU for high mobility vehicles

Ashok Leyland, flagship of the Hinduja Group, has signed a MoU with Israel-based Elbit Systems to provide High Mobility vehicles (HMV) for the latter's artillery guns and systems.

Elbit Systems is a high technology company globally engaged in a range of defence areas, including Land Systems, Artillery Systems and Platforms, Howitzers, Mortars and Ammunition.

Ashok Leyland reports 18% decline in M&HCV sales in November

Ashok Leyland has reported an 18 per cent decline in M&HCV sales during the month of November 2018 at 8,718 units as against 10,638 units, a year ago. Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) sales rose by 15 per cent to 4,403 units from 3,819 units, a year ago.

Total sales dropped by 9 per cent to 13,121 units from 14,457 units in November 2017.

The EBITDA margin at 10.6% for Q2FY19 missed our/consensus estimates by 60 bps on lower realizations and higher commodity costs. The bigger surprise was resignation of Vinod Dasari with effect from March 31, 2019. Dheeraj Hinduja will take over as the executive Chairman till the Board finds a suitable replacement.We expect FY20 earnings to benefit from a confluence of factors (higher volumes, lower discounts, higher operating leverage) on BS6 pre-buy.

Ashok Leyland MD-CEO Vinod K Dasari resigns, to stay on till March 2019

Ashok Leyland managing director (MD) and CEO Vinod K Dasari resigned from his post on Tuesday. He tendered his resignation at the board meeting held to announce the audited results of the company, a Hinduja Group flagship, for the second quarter.

The board of directors in-principle accepted his resignation. But he was asked to continue till March-end 2019 for finding a successor as well as smooth transition.

Ashok Leyland gears up for Electric Vehicle onslaught, lines up four products for rollout in 2019

Ashok Leyland, a Hinduja Group flagship, is betting big on the electric vehicle (EV) front. The company is gearing up to launch at least four EV products in 2019, including a bus, a light commercial vehicle (LCV), a last-mile connectivity product and a medium vehicle.

The company also hinted at its entry into the ‘shared transit’ model on global lines with an electric disruptive vehicle which will be for both urban and rural markets.

Ashok Leyland posts 17% increase in October sales at 15,149 units

Commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland registered a 17 per cent increase in auto sales in October, with total sales of Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) and Medium and Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) at 15,149 units.

M&HCV sales rose 7 per cent to 9,797 units as compared to 9,140 units, a year ago.
