GS Global, formerly Ssangyong Corporation, trades in machinery and materials, energy, metal (including steel), logistics services, business development, and more. The company's machinery import team does business in engine products and parts made by Honda Motor for Korean customers. In 2006 creditors of Ssangyong Corporation sold their controlling stake in the company -- totaling 75% -- to Morgan Stanley Private Equity for approximately $72 million. Three years later, Morgan Stanley sold Ssangyong Corporation to GS Holdings for about $19 million, and the company changed its name to GS Global.
