South African Airways (Proprietary) Limited

South African Airways (SAA) transports passengers and cargo to and from about 35 cities in some 25 countries. SAA operates a fleet of about 50 jets, consisting of both Airbus and Boeing models, from its hub in Johannesburg. The company is a member of the Star Alliance network, which includes Lufthansa and United Airlines, and it serves as South Africa's primary international airline. Its offerings are supplemented by affiliates South African Express, which provides regional service, and SA Airlink, which operates as a feeder carrier. Subsidiary SAA Technical provides maintenance services to other airlines. The government of South Africa owns SAA, which began operations in 1934.
