Fruit that doesn't meet fresh market standards is turned into juices, oils, and peels for use in food products made by other manufactures. This company, run by the Mixon family, uses sunshine as a key ingredient to produce bounteous crops of fresh berries. It operates 1,125 acres in three southern states and Mexico. Together, the SunnyRidge farmers market some 40 million pounds of berries a year. In 2008 the company expanded its offerings to include strawberries.
