Its Urban Institute Press publishes books and reports addressing social and economic issues from tax policy to prison reform. About three-fourths of the institution's funding comes from the federal government; most of the rest comes from foundations including The Aspen Institute and the California Endowment. The Urban Institute was established as a non-partisan research facility in 1968 by the Johnson Administration.

USA Hockey, Inc., founded in 1936-37, is the National Governing Body for the sport of ice hockey in the United States. Its mission is to promote the growth of hockey in America and provide the best possible experience for all participants by encouraging, developing, advancing and administering the sport. The group serves as the governing body for amateur hockey and works to promote the sport with more than 585,000 members (ice and in-line hockey players, coaches, and officials). An official representative to the United States Olympic Committee and the International Ice Hockey Federation, the organization supports development of hockey through its affiliation with more than 30 amateur leagues. It trains Olympians and works with the National Hockey League and the National Collegiate Athletic Association as well as publishing American Hockey Magazine.
