Institute of Human Behaviour & Allied Sciences (IHBAS) was established in compliance with the directives of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in response to a public interest litigation in 1993. The Institute is an autonomous body registered under the Societies Act 1860, funded jointly by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and Government of NCT of Delhi. As an autonomous body, the institute has its Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations duly approved under the Societies Act.

The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) is one of the few Institutes set up solely for the purpose of studying demography. The only institute of its kind in the world, it was declared as a deemed university on August 15, 1985. Situated at Deonar, Mumbai. The IIPS offers academic courses in Population Sciences and takes major initiatives to strengthen the reproductive health, research and training programmes.

The institute conducts training programmes under Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP) for all categories of state Trainees.
