Sushant Singh Rajput: Autopsy reports confirm suicide, last rites to be held in Mumbai today

Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on Sunday after an apparent battle with depression. He was 34-years-old and hanged himself, he was found in his Bandra residence, police confirmed. His body was yesterday taken to Dr RN Cooper Municipal General Hospital for post mortem. Reports state that the post-mortem has now been completed and the autopsy report has said prima facie it has been found that it is a case of suicide.

Reports further state that the organs of Sushant have been sent to JJ Hospital for analysis to check any poisonous substance in them. The last rites of the deceased actor will be performed by his father who arrived in Mumbai from Patna on Sunday night with several other family members.

Sushant's post mortem reports leave no room for doubts especially as it comes after his maternal uncle and several others close to the family alleged a 'conspiracy' in his death. His maternal uncle had said, "We don't think he committed suicide, police must investigate the matter. There seems to be a conspiracy behind his death. He has been murdered," ANI reported.

Fans and his peers from the industry are still coming to terms with his sudden death. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also expressed grief and offered condolences yesterday to the late Bollywood actor's family. "He excelled on TV and in films. His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti," the prime minister said on Twitter.

Sushant often shared his thoughts and musings on his Instagram account. His last post, earlier this month, was dedicated to his late mother. Sushant was last seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore and then in Drive, which released on Netflix, opposite Jacqueline Fernandez.
