New Zealand on Thursday temporarily suspended entry for all travellers from India, including its own citizens, for about two weeks following a high number of positive coronavirus cases arriving from the South Asian country.

The move comes after New Zealand recorded 23 new positive coronavirus cases at its border on Thursday, of which 17 were from India.

All India Congress Committee in charge of West Bengal, Jitin Prasada on Wednesday announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19.

The former minister for State for Human Resource in a tweet said: I have tested positive for COVID-19. Anyone who may have come in contact with me over the last few days, please get yourselves tested. I am presently in quarantine as advised by my doctors.

The Centre today hit back at the Maharashtra government and accused it of creating panic and spreading lies after it raised serious concerns about Covid-19 vaccine shortage in the state.

Shares of Reliance Industries (RIL) and Bharti Airtel gained 3 per cent each on the BSE in the intra-day trade on Wednesday after Reliance Jio Infocomm (Reliance Jio) signed a definitive agreement with Bharti Airtel to acquire the right to use spectrum in the 800-megahertz (MHz) band in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, and Mumbai circles through spectrum trading.

The stock of RIL was up 3 per cent at Rs 2,046, while Bharti Airtel gained 2.7 per cent to quote at Rs 546 on the BSE in the intra-day trade today.
