After a flat performance in calendar year 2016, the domestic luxury car market is back on the growth track. India’s largest luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz saw its volume surge close to nine per cent during the January-June period, when it sold a record 7,171 vehicles. BMW clocked a growth of 11.5 per cent in the same period to sell 4,589 vehicles.
Luxury car makers such as Mercedes, BMW and Audi had passed on the benefits of GST within days of the announcement of the rates in May even though they came into effect from July.

MUMBAI: Offering post GST benefit in pre-GST era drove India's largest luxury car maker Mercedes Benz to register a significant 40 per cent growth in June, rallying the brand back to double-digit growth in April to June second quarter since the end of 2015.
The company sold record 3521 units in Q2 of 2017, registering a year on year growth of 18 per cent. For the first half of 2017, Mercedes Benz sale growth was recorded at 8.7 per cent to 7171 units. The growth in Indian market is in line with global trend, wherein the maker of S-Class posted a record half-yearly number at 1.14 million units growing by 13.7 per cent.

German luxury car maker Mercedes- Benz on launched two SUVs -- Mercedes-AMG G 63 'Edition 463' and Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 priced at Rs 2.17 crore and Rs 1.58 crore (ex-showroom Pune), respectively.
The launch boosts the company's presence in the performance SUV segment and takes Mercedes-Benz's SUV portfolio to eight products, Mercedes-Benz India said in a statement.

German luxury car maker Mercedes Benz on Friday launched the all new E-Class 220 d sedan in India, priced at Rs 57.14 lakh (ex-showroom Pune).
The company also rolled out a new four-cylinder diesel engine, OM 654, manufactured at Mercedes Benz Chakan facility in Pune.

Luxury carmakers, hit by diesel ban in the National Capital Region and demonetisation in recent times, are treading cautiously in the run-up to the Goods and Services Tax (GST). The country’s largest luxury carmaker, Mercedes-Benz, has lowered prices by up to nine per cent with immediate effect to ensure that customers do not postpone purchases to wait for a price benefit that kicks in from July. German luxury car maker Mercedes Benz on Tuesday reported its best ever quarterly sales in India at 3,650 units, although just a marginal increase from the year-ago period.
The sales growth in January-March period this calendar year has been driven by the E-Class sedan and SUV portfolio led by GLC, Mercedes Benz India said.

Berlin: Mercedes-Benz is accelerating its rollout of electric cars in a race to meet tighter emissions rules as European buyers turn away from fuel-efficient diesel cars.
In a €10 billion ($10.8 billion) project, the world’s largest luxury-car maker intends to release 10 new electric vehicles by 2022, three years earlier than a target announced at the Paris auto show in September. MUMBAI: It perhaps has never been so affordable to own a performance car in India. Iconic German sports car makers Porsche and Mercedes-Benz AMG added new, entry-level models to their portfolios, at prices as low as half those commanded by their full-feature performance cars. Tata Motors is building one of its own.

MUMBAI: German automaker Mercedes-Benz on Tuesday launched the long-wheelbase (LWB) version of the E-Class in India at a starting price of Rs 56.15 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). India is the only country in the world to get the right-hand drive version of the LWB E-Class.
In terms of features, the biggest selling point of the new E-Class is the class-leading rear legroom. Thanks to the extended wheelbase, the 2017 E-Class outshines all its rivals from BMW , Jaguar , Audi and Volvo in this respect. The newness doesn't end there.
