Dynaction isn't the newest Saturday morning cartoon show -- it's a maker of fine and specialty chemicals through its 70% holding in Produits Chimiques Auxiliaires et de Synth賥 (PCAS). Its products are made for the pharmaceutical sector, primarily, as well as for makers of personal care and fragrance products. More than half of the company's sales are generated outside France. Its adhesives also are used in wood veneers, kitchen cabinets, furniture, and structural wood products such as joists. Dynea also produces resins used in industrial and decorative paper overlays. The company sells mainly to customers in Europe and Asia. It operates 40 manufacturing facilities in more than 20 countries. Two funds controlled by investment firm Industri Kapital control 90% of Dynea.

Dyno Nobel Inc. is the North American unit of explosives maker Dyno Nobel. The company, which operates more than 50 manufacturing and distribution facilities throughout the continent, is North America's leading supplier of explosives. Primary customers include mining, construction, and industrial quarry companies. Its former parent company, the Norwegian private equity firm Industrie Kapital, divided the parent company in 2005 and sold the Australian and North American operations to Macquarie Bank. Rival Orica acquired the other operations. Dyno Nobel remains the world's second-largest explosives producer behind Orica, though it was acquired by Australian agrochem maker Incitec Pivot in 2008.
