Mendocino Redwood Company harvests about 2% of its acreage every year. In 2008 the company acquired Pacific Lumber (since renamed Humboldt Redwood), which controls about 200,000 acres of timberlands in Humboldt county, for about $550 million.

Millar Western Forest Products Ltd. company is a leading producer of bleached chemi-thermo-mechanical pulp. The pulp is used by other manufacturers to make printing, writing, and specialty papers as well as paperboard, tissue, and paper towels.
