Tampa General Hospital
Tampa General Hospital keeps the medical tempo humming in west-central Florida. The medical center provides general medical and surgical care, as well as tertiary offerings including a Level 1 trauma center, a burn unit, a pediatric ward, women's and cardiovascular centers, and an organ transplant unit. The not-for-profit hospital has about 930 acute-care beds, as well as 60 beds in its rehabilitation unit, which specializes in helping patients recover from stroke, head or spine trauma, and other neuromuscular conditions. In addition, Tampa General is the primary teaching hospital for The University of South Florida College of Medicine. It also conducts research and operates community care centers in the Tampa area.
