The not-for-profit health system's flagship facility is Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, which has about 100 beds. The system also includes The SVHC Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, Northshire Medical Center, and Deerfield Valley Health Center, as well as home health and hospice operations. Sparrow Health System's other operations include a long-term-care center (located on the St. Lawrence campus of Sparrow Hospital), a hospice care provider, and medical equipment rental unit. The health system got its start in 1896 when a group of women set out with $400, a house on Ottawa Street (in Lansing, Michigan), and a mission to care for the sick.
