Sparks Health System brings good health to western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma. The not-for-profit health system operates Sparks Regional Medical Center, a nearly 500-bed community-based hospital, along with a broad range of health care programs and diagnostic facilities. With Arkansas' oldest hospital (founded in 1887) as part of its operations, Sparks boasts an impressive lists of "firsts," including the state's first heart institute (Stanley E. Evans Heart Institute) and the state's first ultrasound equipment. However, an expensive renovation and economic woes pinched the company and in 2009 it was acquired by health care giant Health Management Associates (HMA).

Sparrow Hospital, has two campuses and more than 700 beds. Its Clinton Memorial Hospital has about 30 beds, and affiliate Carson City Hospital has roughly 80 beds. Sparrow Health System's other operations include a long-term-care center (located on the St. Lawrence campus of Sparrow Hospital), a hospice care provider, and medical equipment rental unit. The health system got its start in 1896 when a group of women set out with $400, a house on Ottawa Street (in Lansing, Michigan), and a mission to care for the sick.

Spartanburg Regional Health Services District (doing business as Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System) provides a wide range of health care options to northeast South Carolina. The 590-bed Spartanburg Regional Medical Center offers acute hospital services including intensive care, pediatrics, diagnostic imaging, and behavioral health. The health care complex includes the Gibbs Cancer Center, as well as centers specializing in heart, vascular, women's health, and outpatient care. The Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System also operates a satellite campus (Village Hospital), as well as general physician clinics, specialty outpatient centers, and long-term care, home health, and hospice facilities.

Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Network, which includes a nearly 200-bed main hospital and nine outpatient centers throughout Massachusetts, provides a variety of rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities or who are recovering from surgery, illness, or injury. Its inpatient programs include rehabilitation for vascular disease, brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke; the network also provides outpatient rehabilitation in such areas as sports injury, physical and occupational therapy, sleep diagnostics, and arthritis management. Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital is a teaching hospital for Harvard Medical School and is a member of the Partners HealthCare System.

Spectrum Health is a regional health system serving western Michigan. The not-for-profit network features more than half a dozen hospitals with some 2,000 beds that provide everything from general surgery to specialized cancer care. Residents and visitors to the area can also access Spectrum Health through its more than 140 service sites, which include urgent care centers, primary care physician offices, community clinics, rehabilitation and other outpatient facilities, and continuing care residences and services for the elderly. The health system also operates Priority Health, a health plan with about 500,000 members.
