MedCath Corporation is a healthcare provider and is focused on providing acuity services, including the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The Company owns and operate hospitals in partnership with physicians. The Company has ownership interests in and operate 10 hospitals, including eight, in which the Company owns a majority interest. Each of the Company’s hospitals has a 24-hour emergency room staffed by emergency department physicians. The hospital system is anchored by its 230-bed Memorial Medical Center-Lufkin facility, a full-service general acute-care hospital offering everything from rehabilitative and diabetes care to specialized centers in heart disease and cancer treatment. The Lufkin hospital also includes a long-term ward for critically ill patients. Memorial Health System of East Texas also features two critical access hospitals in Livingston and San Augustine, offering a more limited range of service, including emergency care and diagnostic imaging.
