Raritan Bay Medical Center operates two hospitals in central New Jersey. Its Perth Amboy facility has nearly 390 beds, and its Old Bridge hospital has more than 110 beds. Specialty units include a cardiopulmonary department, a sleep disorder lab, a diabetes education unit, and outpatient testing and surgery centers. Raulerson Hospital is part of HCA's East Florida division.

Redmond Regional is deeply involved with administering health to those living in the deep South. Serving northwest Georgia and portions of Alabama, Redmond Regional Medical Center houses some 230 beds and employs about 250 physicians in more than 30 areas of specialization. The acute-care facility specializes in cardiology (it's the only dedicated chest pain center in the region), general surgery, orthopedic care, uruology, and vascular care. Redmond Regional Medical Center also provides emergency, oncology, radiology, rehabilitation, and women's health services. It has centers dedicated to diabetes treatment, family care, and sleep disorders. Founded in 1972, the Rome-based hospital is owned by HCA.

Regina Medical Center is a regional health care provider in southeastern Minnesota. The hospital provides acute and long-term health care services to residents of Dakota County, Minnesota. Founded in 1953, the not-for-profit Regina Medical Center has 60 acute care hospital beds and nearly 200 nursing and assisted living beds. Specialty services include cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, urology, and neurology. Regina Medical also operates several community health and surgery centers jointly with Allina Hospitals and Clinics.

RegionalCare Hospital Partners is looking for the nearest emergency room. The company formed in 2009 with the intention to acquire hospitals in smaller cities or rural areas, where it's the only game in town. It plans to improve a local hospital's service by providing access to capital, but allow local management to maintain day-to-day operations. RegionalCare Hospital Partners is the brainchild of CEO Martin Rash and president John Rutledge, who found success with Province Healthcare using the same business model. (They sold Province Healthcare in 2005 to LifePoint Hospitals for $1.7 billion.) Private equity firm Warburg Pincus has pledged up to $300 million to fund the first investments.
