HCA (AKA Hospital Corporation of America) operates roughly 170 acute care, psychiatric, and rehabilitation hospitals in the US and England. It also runs about 100 ambulatory surgery centers, as well as cancer treatment and outpatient rehab centers that form health care networks in many of the communities it serves. HCA has facilities in 20 states; about three-quarters of its hospitals are in the southern US (approximately 70 are in Florida and Texas). The hospital giant's HCA International operates its hospitals and clinics in the UK. HCA is planning to go public through a $4.6 billion initial public offering.
