The company's films dominated the box office in the late 1980s and early '90s, and include many successful titles from that era, including True Romance, Pacific Heights, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Major League, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. In recent years Morgan Creek has only produced a handful of movies, the most significant one being the Academy Award-nominated The Good Shepherd. Morgan Creek distributes its films domestically through a deal with Universal Pictures. The company was founded by producer James G. Robinson (co-chairman and CEO) in 1988 when it released its first film, Young Guns.
