Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc. company has responded to the digital age by putting most of its information online (Britannica.com), as well as on CD-ROM and DVD. Swiss financier Jacob Safra (a nephew of the late banking king Edmond Safra) owns Encyclopædia Britannica company. Encyclopædia Britannica thinks it knows everything, and it probably does. In addition to its flagship 32-volume Encyclopædia Britannica (first published in 1768), Encyclopædia Britannica company publishes reference works (Great Books of the Western World), atlases (Britannica's Student Atlas), and other titles (The American Presidency). It publishes dictionaries through its Merriam-Webster subsidiary. Its Britannica Online School Edition is a reference site for students and teachers.
