The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA) knows there's nothing like a healthy dose of lobbying to help state lawmakers to see things its way. VIT was established in 1982. In March 2009 developer CenterPoint Properties offered $8.9 billion to buy the operating rights of the Virginia Port Authority's cargo terminals. Other bidders include investment firm The Carlyle Group and terminal operator Carrix Inc.
