Transport for London

Transport for London

Transport for London is provided by Transport for London, a government agency that oversees the operations of the city's bus, subway (London Underground, better known as the Tube), light rail, and tram systems. The agency is working to bring back a storied feature of the city's transport system -- the double-decker Routemaster bus, which was phased out except on a couple of tourist routes. The agency, which was founded in 2000, also manages the city's network of main roads (including some 6,000 traffic lights), enforces taxi regulations, and promotes a range of walking and cycling initiatives. Transport for London is controlled by the London Mayor's Office.
