Apparel makers reach for Teijin when they need more fiber. About a third of the company's sales come from fibers that are used primarily in apparel but that are also found in items as varied as circuit boards and bulletproof jackets. In a joint venture with DuPont, Teijin produces polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films used in packaging and magnetic media. The company also makes polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) film used in videocassettes, and it makes pharmaceuticals and medical products, as well as textile and industrial machinery such as spinning machines. Teijin serves customers in Asia, Europe, and the Americas through about 200 subsidiaries and affiliates.

Teknor Apex is no retread. At least not any longer. Founded in 1924 as a tire distributor and retreader, Teknor Apex has sold off those assets to concentrate on chemicals, plastic, and rubber. The company has seven divisions that provide chemicals (plasticizers and toll compounding), garden hoses, rubber (custom mixing and molding of rubber compounds), specialty compounding (custom thermoplastic compound manufacturing and toll compounding of plastics), color concentrates for plastics (Teknor Color Company), thermoplastic elastomers, and vinyl (custom PVC compounds). TRCC operates on five continents and maintains 13 operating divisions and subsidiaries, including Perpetual Machine Company (maker of carpet finishing equipment), Tiarco (latex chemicals manufacturer), and XL Brands (maker of floor covering adhesives and carpet care products).

Thai KK Industry developed its business model and stuck with it. The company, jointly owned by Thai Eternal Group and Taiwan Eternal Group, manufactures adhesive tapes and labels for use in industrial and printing applications. Thai KK Industry also produces melamine resin, an ingredient in everyday household plastic consumer products like foodware, table coatings, as well as electrical components. The company markets its tape and label products internationally under the KK, Valu, and Scorpion brand names (all manufactured at its production facility in Thailand).

Almost two third of Thai Rayon's VSF production is directly exported to more than 20 countries worldwide. The VSF marketed under the brand 'Birla Cellulose' meets the stringent quality requirement of customers spanning six continents from Middle East to Europe and United States to Asia Pacific.
