Placid Refining's refinery has the capacity to process 55,000 barrels of crude oil per day. The company is one of the largest employers and taxpayers in West Baton Rouge Parish. Placid Refining, which is controlled by Petro-Hunt, distribute fuels across a dozen states in the southeastern US, from Texas to Virginia, and is a major supplier of jet fuel to the US military.
