Silterra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.

Silterra aims to supply silky-smooth service to chip makers. The silicon foundry company supplies contract manufacturing services: customers send their own designs to Silterra, which then produces finished chips in its wafer fabrication facilities. Approximately half of its products are shipped to the US; Taiwan and South Korea each receive 25%. Silterra's investors include two investment arms of Malaysia's Ministry of Finance, which owns about two-thirds of Silterra, as well as LSI Corp., Seiko, Bank Industri Malaysia, and Walden Holdings. Silterra was founded in 1995 as Wafer Technology (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and first began producing semiconductors in late 2000.
