The Madhya Pradesh Legislature, in the sixteenth year of the Republic of India, enacted an Act for the establishment of a Board in order to regulate Secondary Education in Madhya Pradesh and other ancillary matters. In 1965 this autonomous body was established under the The Madhya Pradesh Secondary Education Act,1965.

The Board Of School Education Haryana, Bhiwani Came Into Existence In 1969 As Per Haryana Act No. 11 Of 1969 With Its Head-Quarters At Chandigarh Later Shifted To Bhiwani In January 1981

Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board came in to existence in the year 1966,has been conducting SSLC and other examinations. Every year the student strength is increasing tremendously. Every year in April about 8.50 Lakhs & in June 1.50 Lakhs students are appearing for the SSLC examinations. The board has decided to improve the evaluation system and the results, every year the quantum of the board examination has been increasing and hence divisional offices of the Board have been set up in order to decentralize the student needs. The board is now providing Admission Tickets with student photographs and major breakthrough in this venture is the photos being used in the repeaters Admission Tickets also. The board has ventured to conduct the supplementary examination for the failed candidates of the examination of March in June month of every year itself; this will enable the students who would be successful in the June examination to join higher education courses in the same academic year from July itself. This process was introduced first time in the country.

The legislation for the setting up of the Meghalaya Board of School Education to regulate, supervise and control school education in the State of Meghalaya came into force on 25th September, 1973 under the Meghalaya Board of School Education Act, 1973 (Meghalaya Act 10, 1973).
