TVS Motor commences production of two-wheelers for BMW

TVS Motor announced that the company has commenced manufacturing products for BMW at its Hosur facility.

K N Radhakrishnan, president & CEO, TVS Motor said that first product will be launched after October by BMW, and TVS will launch its product by end of fiscal.

German auto major BMW and Indian two-wheeler major TVS are planning to use common platform and service outlets for the upcoming motorcycles.

BMW Motorrad unveiled its first 300cc motorcycle, the G 310 R in October in association with TVS Motor. TVS is also gearing up for the 200cc version of Apache. It was reported that the BMW Motorrad had a pivotal role in shaping the Apache 200.

The company also unveiled the BMW Concept Stunt G 310, a stunt bike which could be the basis of the motorcycle the BMW-TVS Motor tie up to launch in India, according to reports.

The motorcycle was showcased in a motorcycle show in Brazil. The vehicle, which BMW refers as "a one-cylinder roadster in the extraordinary design of a stunt bike", is the basis of the BMW-TVS K3 a motorcycle the partners are planning to launch in India later in 2016, according to various reports.

The report stated that existing TVS dealers will get priority for the exclusive outlets.

The partners are expected to introduce products and there might be two products, one under the brand of TVS and the other under the brand of BMW, the report further indicates. The BMW-TVS partnership is looking at launching motorcycles in the sub-500 cc category.

The partners earlier announced that investment in the project would be Euro 20 million. In 2013 the two companies have announced the co-operation.
