Maruti Suzuki aims for sales of 2m by 2020

New Delhi, Feb. 3: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, India's largest carmaker by sales, is eyeing sales of 2 million cars annually in India by 2020, said Toshihiro Suzuki of Suzuki Motor Corporation.

"The Indian auto market will be the third largest in the world. We will bring 15 new models by 2020. We will offer the best technologies here. We are going to double our sales network. We have 100 Nexa showrooms already. We will double it in two years time," said Suzuki, president and COO of Suzuki Motor, at the first of the two press days at the Auto Expo 2016, New Delhi.

The company sold around 1.6 million cars in India last year.

Unveiling the new urban compact SUV the Vitara Brezza,which will be sold from the regular Maruti sales channel, Suzuki said: "Brezza will be created in India and sold both in the domestic and global markets," said Suzuki.

The other global product made in India and sold to Japan is the Baleno. The company recently shipped 2000 Balenos to Japan. "It is doing 9,000 to 10,000 units a month in India," said a Maruti spokesperson.
