L&T Construction wins orders worth Rs 1,489 crore

The water & effluent treatment strategic business group of L&T Construction has won turnkey orders worth Rs 1,489 crore in August 2015, in three packages, from Public Health Engineering Department, Ajmer, under the Rajasthan Rural Water Supply and Fluorosis Mitigation Project (Nagaur).
The projects, funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), are aimed at providing potable water to 986 villages and seven urban towns in Nagaur district and 111 villages and two towns of Bikaner district in Rajasthan.
The scope of the packages includes the construction of a 5,310 ML raw water reservoir, a 250 MLD water treatment plant, raw water and clear water pumping stations, mild steel and ductile iron pipelines, electro-mechanical and instrumentation and other allied works including operation and maintenance.
The sub-group caters to turnkey infrastructure projects including water treatment plants, water supply and distribution networks, desalination plants, water management system, waste water networks, waste water treatment plants, complete industrial water solutions covering water treatment, effluent treatment, de-mineralization, water reuse and lift irrigation systems.

The Adi/Nadir Godrej family, along with other family members/trusts, has made an open offer to the shareholders of Astec Lifesciences to acquire an additional 26 per cent stake from the public as part of the family settlement agreement (FSA), according to an announcement to the stock exchanges on Wednesday.
The offer, made at the price of Rs 1,069.75 per share, was triggered by the Adi/Nadir family's plan to acquire a 20.84 per cent stake in Godrej Industries (GIL) from the Jamshyd Godrej/Smita Crishna Godrej family, according to the FSA announced on Tuesday.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena on Tuesday said 49 Lok Sabha candidates and 318 Assembly candidates have withdrawn their nominations for the May 13 simultaneous elections in the state.
Consequently, the number of candidates contesting the 25 Lok Sabha seats got pruned to 454 and the 175-member Assembly to 2,387 candidates, the CEO said.

The Delhi High Court, on Wednesday, granted SpiceJet a final chance to settle a payment of Rs 50 crore to its engine lessors, Team France and Sunbird France. If the airline fails to meet this obligation, it risks having two of its engines grounded, according to a report in The Economic Times (ET).
Justice Pratibha Singh instructed the counsel representing SpiceJet to obtain guidance by May 3 regarding the feasible time period for the low-cost carrier to pay Rs 50 crore to its lessors.

Gautam Adani-led Adani Power on Wednesday reported a 47.8 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,737 crore for the quarter ended March 2024 (Q4FY24). The power company had reported a net profit of Rs 5,242 crore in the year-ago period (Q4FY23), according to its stock exchange filing.
At Rs 2,737 crore, the company's net profit remained unchanged from the previous quarter (October-December).

The Supreme Court on Tuesday pulled up the Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority for inaction in the misleading advertisements case involving Patanjali Ayurved Limited.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the explanation offered by the body, a bench of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah observed it appeared that the licensing authority got activated to take action in accordance with the law only after the apex court's April 10 order.
