Microsoft Acquires Digital Pen Tech Developer N-Trig for $30M

Microsoft has acquired Digital Pen Tech Developer N-Trig for $30 million. N-Trig has been Microsoft’s partner since 2008.

Last year an N-Trig became a part of Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 package, as per company’s blog post. Stevie Bathiche, Distinguished Scientist, Microsoft Surface, commenting on the acquisition said, “We can’t wait to show you what we’ll deliver for our Surface Fans in the future. Digital pens have a ways to go to be as good as pen and paper on some dimensions, and we’ll get there. But more importantly, adding the ability to capture and share the work you do with a digital pen opens up possibilities that traditional pen and paper just can’t match. Today’s investment is another step that will let us push that innovation forward.”

N-Trig is an Israel based company which started in 1999 and till date has grabbed more than 100 patents to its name, as the company’s website claims. The company has also done business with Fujitsu, Lenovo, and Sony.
