Budget 2019: Sensex crosses 40 thousand mark in opening trade

Ahead of Budget 2019, BSE Sensex breached the 40, 000 mark and was trading at 40,003 at 9.19 PM. Nifty too opened in the green and was trading at 11, 974 points, up 28 points.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be presenting the budget at 11 AM, and it will be interesting to see how the sensex reacts to the first budget of the Modi government,.
Equity benchmarks ended on a positive note for the fourth straight session Thursday after the Economic Survey projected India's economic growth rebounding from a five-year low to 7 per cent this fiscal.Investors also remained optimistic that the Modi 2.0 government's first Budget, to be presented Friday, will propose measures to boost consumption and revive growth, analysts said.
The 30-share BSE Sensex settled 68.81 points, or 0.17 per cent, higher at 39,908.06, while the broader NSE Nifty climbed 30 points, or 0.25 per cent, to 11,946.75.

India's largest port operator Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) is looking to expand its operations into the Philippines, with plans to invest in port development, according to a release issued by the office of the president of Philippines.
APSEZ Managing Director Karan Adani met with the Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr at Malacañang on May 2 in a courtesy call to discuss Adani Group's plans for the port.

The Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday charged an auditing firm hired by Trump Media and Technology Group just 37 days ago with massive fraud though not for any work it performed for former President Donald Trump's media company.
The SEC charged the accounting firm BF Borgers and its owner, Benjamin F. Borgers, of deliberate and systematic failures in more than 1,500 audits.

India's markets regulator has sent notices of regulatory violations to seven companies of the Adani conglomerate, including its flagship Adani Enterprises, the group said in stock exchange filings.
The regulator began probing the Adani group, led by billionaire Gautam Adani, after Hindenburg Research in January 2023 alleged improper use of tax havens and stock manipulation by the group, accusations the group has denied.
