Sensex falls over 200 points on weak global cues

The BSE benchmark Sensex fell over 200 points in early trade on Wednesday following weak global cues amid fresh foreign fund outflows.
The 30-share was trading 215.44 points, or 0.61 per cent, lower at 35,259.07 points. The gauge had lost 300.37 points Tuesday.
Sectoral indices led by IT, teck, metal, capital goods and power were trading in the negative zone with losses up to 2.70 per cent.
The NSE Nifty too was trading 33.80 points, or 0.32 per cent, down at 10,622.40.
Brokers said a weak trend in other Asian markets following extended rout at Wall Street Tuesday on disappointing earnings amid fears over slowing global growth on US-China trade dispute and the steady rise in interest rates, dampened sentiment here.

IT major Infosys, on Thursday, reported a consolidated net profit increase of 30 per cent to Rs 7,969 crore for the quarter of January-March in the financial year 2024 (Q4FY24), compared to Rs 6,128 crore reported during the same period last year.
The consolidated revenue went up 1.3 per cent to Rs 37,923 crore, compared to Rs 37,441 crore reported during Q4FY23.

Fintech firm BharatPe on Tuesday said it has elevated its interim CEO and chief financial officer Nalin Negi as full-time chief executive officer.
Negi was given charge of interim CEO in January 2023 after then CEO Suhail Sameer stepped down from the post.

Two individuals have been arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch late on Monday night for allegedly firing shots outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in Bandra West on April 14, several media outlets reported.
"Both individuals, who fled Mumbai following the shooting, were apprehended in Bhuj, Gujarat," stated officials, as per news agency ANI. The Mumbai police confirmed that the detained individuals, identified as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal from Champaran, Bihar, will be transported to Mumbai for further interrogation.

Tata Consultancy Services has topped the LinkedIn's latest list of top companies to work for in India, followed by Accenture and Cognizant in the second and third place respectively.
Professional networking platform LinkedIn on Tuesday released the 2024 Top Companies list for India wherein IT companies bagged the top three ranks, while financial services firms dominated the list with 9 out of 25 companies from this sector.
