The overall global coronavirus caseload has topped 93.7 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 2 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
In its latest update on Saturday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 93,787,372 and 2,006,987, respectively.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched India's vaccination drive against the novel coronavirus via video conferencing.
Billed as the world's largest vaccination program, covering the entire length and breadth of the country, the drive aims to first inoculate millions of its healthcare and frontline workers and reach an estimated 3 crore people by the end of its first phase.

Diversified Mahindra Group on Friday said it has registered interest to seek COVID-19 vaccines for its employees, as per priorities and sequence to be specified by the government.
The farm equipment-to-aerospace conglomerate said it would take the responsibility for the inoculation of its employees rather than have the government subsidise them.

Tragedy struck the Pandya household on Saturday as Hardik and Krunal Pandya’s father, Himanshu Pandya died at the age of 71 reportedly due to a cardiac arrest. While Hardik Pandya is not playing any cricket at the moment, it has been reported in ANI that Krunal Pandya has left the bio-bubble to be with his family. Amid growing concerns over its privacy policy, popular messaging app WhatsApp on Friday (January 15) announced that it has decided to postpone the planned privacy update. Whatsapp said that the postponement of the privacy update will give users more time to review the policy and accept its terms and conditions. It is to to be noted that Whatsapp is owned by tech giant FAcebook.
According to Whatsapp, the decision to postpone the privacy update has been taken due to misinformation causing concern among people.

The world's largest vaccination drive is scheduled to begin in India from Sunday (January 16). The vaccination campaign against COVID-19 will be the largest in the world covering the entire length and breadth of the country.
In the first phase of the vaccination drive, three crore heath care workers and frontline workers from government and private hospitals across the country will receive the coronavirus vaccine.

Shares of HCL Technologies dipped 2 per cent to Rs 1,007 on the BSE in early morning trade on Friday, down 5 per cent in the past three trading days, on account of profit booking after the company reported a 26.2 per cent quarter on quarter (QoQ) growth in consolidated net profit at Rs 3,969 crore in December quarter (Q3FY21) earlier today.
