Thousands of people assembled at Haryana's Jind on Wednesday (February 3) to attend a farmers' mahapanchayat to put pressure on the Centre to repeal three new farm laws which are at the heart of farmer protests outside Delhi for over 70 nows.

The gathering was addressed by Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait, an influential Jat leader from Uttar Pradesh. During his speech, Tikait issued a stern warning to the Centre saying that it would not be easy for the government to remain in power if the new laws are not repealed.

With regard to the January 26, Red Fort religious flag hoisting case, one person has been arrested by the Delhi police. The arrested individual has been identified as Dharmendra Singh Harman.

The person has been arrested for raising the 'Nishan Sahib' at the Red Fort last week, amid violent clashes between farmers and police during the tractor rally in the national capital.

Karnataka Health and Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar on Wednesday (February 3) said that the state government has decided to operate at 100 per cent of their capacity for four weeks on a trial basis.

Sudhakar made the announcement after meeting senior office-bearers of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and representatives from the industry. It is learnt that the meeting was called by Sudhakar on the instructions of Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

State-owned CIL on Wednesday said it has entered into a pact worth Rs 2,900 crore with a Belarus-based mining equipment manufacturer for purchase of dumpers.

The pact is for purchase of 96 dumpers of 240 tonne capacity each, Coal India Ltd (CIL) said in a statement.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to entertain the petitions regarding violence in Delhi during the Tractor Rally on Republic Day 2021. Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement that the law will do its job, Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde has said that in such a situation, the apex court does not want to interfere.

Refusing to hear the petitions demanding a judicial inquiry into the violence, the court asked the petitioners to submit a memorandum to the government.

Consolidated revenue from operations of the company stood at Rs 749 crore for the quarter under consideration. It was Rs 651 crore for the same period a year ago, the company said in a BSE filing.
