In value terms, the payments platform saw transactions worth Rs 7.71 trillion in October, a record high.

UPI had logged 3.65 billion transactions worth Rs 650 crore in September. On a month-on-month basis, UPI recorded a 15 per cent jump in volume of transactions and 18.5 per cent increase in value of transactions in October.

Shares of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) surged 13 per cent to Rs 130.35 on the BSE in Monday's intra-day trade after the company reported best-ever quarterly standalone profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 4,304 crore for the second quarter ended September 2021 (Q2FY22). It had posted Rs 393 crore net profit in the year-ago quarter. On a sequential basis, PAT up 12 per cent from Rs 3,850 crore in June 2021 quarter.

The company's standalone revenue from operations increased 58 per cent year on year (YoY) at Rs 26,827 crore, from Rs 16,923 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

Shares of Bandhan Bank dipped 7 per cent to Rs 272.55 on the BSE in Monday’s intra-day trade after the bank reported net loss of Rs 3,009 crore in the second quarter ended September 2021 (Q2FY22) on huge provisions of over Rs 4,600 crore for the bad loans and restructured advances. It had posted a net profit of Rs 920 crore in Q2FY21. The stock of private sector lender is trading close to its 52-week low of Rs 259.40 touched on August 25, 2021.

During the quarter, the bank has made accelerated provision on non-performing assets (NPA) accounts of Rs 1,500 crore resulting in PCR of 74 per cent as against 62 per cent in Q1FY22.
