L&T Construction to build cricket stadium in Varanasi with 30,000 capacity

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction on Monday announced that its buildings and factories (B&F) business has secured significant orders in the range of Rs 1,000 to 2,500 crore in India and Bangladesh.

The B&F Business has secured an order from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) for the “construction of a cricket stadium at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh” on design and build turnkey basis, the company said in its press release.

Indicating a forthcoming announcement, two Jio smartphones have received certifications from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The BIS certification confirms compliance with the country’s safety and quality standards.

According to news reports, the stamp of approval by BIS was granted on Friday (August 11) to devices bearing model numbers JBV161W1 and JBV162W1. The new Jio phones would likely feature 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. These are likely to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 system-on-a-chip (SoC).

Centre is likely to disburse Rs 600 crore to Samsung under the Production-linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for mobile phone manufacturing, Mint reported on Monday. This would be the largest payout ever under the scheme.

Samsung had claimed incentives of about Rs 900 crore for generating revenues of about Rs 15,000 crore from smartphone sales in 2020-21, the first year of the PLI scheme. It was the only company to meet the threshold of minimum investment of Rs 250 crore in India.

“The risks of the merger are the funding part of it,” Jagdishan told shareholders of the largest private sector lender at its first post-merger annual general meeting. HDFC Bank Chairman Atanu Chakraborty, on the other hand, expressed confidence that the private sector lender would benefit from the low cost of funds that a bank traditionally enjoys.
