BSE Sensex closes 134.09 points down at 28,370.84, NSE Nifty below 8,600; Lupin stocks down 5.23% on BSE

In a volatile market, the bechmark BSE Sensex slipped 134.09 points to close at 28,370.84. NSE Nifty on the other hand dropped below 8,600 and close 43.70 points down at 8,589.80.

Lupin emerged top loser of the day. On BSE, Lupin Ltd closed 5.23 per cent down, while on NSE, it traded 5.25 per cent down.

MUMBAI | HYDERABAD: The K C Rao - led Telangana government has awarded the turnkey contract of three power projects - adding up to 6,000 MW capacity and to be built at a cost of Rs 27,360 crore ($4.3 billion) - in the state to government-owned power equipment manufacturer Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) on nomination basis, without floating a mandatory competitive bid.

Country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) launched retail outlets under Nexa brand to sell premium products as the company looks to further consolidate its position in the domestic market.

"Based on the vision to sell two million vehicles annually by 2020, we are starting various initiatives. Nexa outlets is one such step lined up in that direction," MSI Managing Director and CEO Kenichi Ayukawa told reporters here.

The Indian companies on the 2015 Fortune Global 500 list are Indian Oil ranked 119 on the list, with revenues of about USD 74 billion, Reliance Industries (158) with revenues of USD 62 billion, Tata Motors with revenues of USD 42 billion (254), State Bank of India with revenues of USD 42 billion (260), Bharat Petroleum with revenues of USD 40 billion (280), Hindustan Petroleum with revenues of USD 35 billion (327) and Oil and Natural Gas with revenues of USD 26 billion (449).

Sony is stepping into the drone business after the Japanese electronics giant announced a new venture that captures images and other data for business purposes using unmanned crafts.

The new business — which is called Aerosense — is a joint-venture with Japanese robotics and automation company ZMP. It won’t sell drones, but instead will use them to capture images from the skies which — when combined with cloud-based data processing — will provide a range of services and data to help with tasks like measurement, surveying, observation and inspection.

HDFC Bank has reported a net profit of Rs.2,695.72 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2015, an increase of 20.7 per cent compared to Rs.2,233.04 crore recorded in the corresponding period of previous year.

The bank’s total income was Rs.16,503 crore, an increase of 26.3 per cent over Rs.13,070.7 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2014.
