Bank of Baroda appoints P V Sindhu and K Srikanth as brand ambassadors

Public sector bank Bank of Baroda, has signed a principal sponsorship contract with badminton Olympians P V Sindhu and K Srikanth. The three year deal with the two players was agreed in principle before they represented and made India proud on the International stage at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

In 2005, the bank had appointed right hand batsman Rahul Dravid as its brand ambassador, though that contract has long since expired.

PNB Housing Finance has received capital markets regulator Sebi's go ahead to raise Rs 2,500 crore through an initial public offering.

The leading housing finance firm filed IPO papers with Sebi in July. The markets regulator issued its final 'observations' on October 6 on the draft offer documents, which is necessary for any company to launch the public offer.

Infosys was trading higher by 2.4% at Rs 1,054, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was down 2.3% at Rs 2,326 on the BSE, ahead of their July- September (Q2F17) earnings. The S&P BSE Sensex was down 1.7% or 487 points at 27,594.

TCS is scheduled to announce its Q217 results on Thursday, October 13, 2016, after market hours. Infosys will announce the results for its second quarter ended September 30, 2016 on Friday, October 14, 2016 around 8.45 a.m.

State-run BHEL today said it has commissioned yet another 660 Mw coal-based supercritical thermal power unit in Uttar Pradesh.

"Notably, in the past 15 months, BHEL has added 4,300 Mw of power generation capacity in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The commissioning of the unit will result in significant improvement of electricity availability in the state of Uttar Pradesh," the company said in a statement.
